Whitley and Stowe Earn February Student Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Liana Whitley from beach volleyball and Trevor Stowe from baseball for earning the College of the Desert February Student Athletes of the Month honors.

Beach Volleyball sophomore Liana Whitley from Palm Desert H.S., had wins over Fullerton and Palomar in the month of February. Whitley, with her beach teammate sophomore Ashley Amidei (Indio Shadow Hills), dominated in their win as the 3s team in their season opener at home over Fullerton and then fought for an extra set win over Palomar on February 16 at Menifee.

Baseball freshman third baseman/designated hitter/right-handed starting pitcher Trevor Stowe Buffalo H.S. in Buffalo, Wyoming, had a great month on the mound and in the batter's box. From the mound, Stowe went 2-1 with wins over Imperial Valley and Barstow, collecting a 3.00 earned run average over that span. From the batter's box, he is leading the team in batting average, runs batted in and tied for the team lead in triples. Stowe had 5 multi-hit games in the 11 games the Roadrunners played in during the month of February and grabbed 6 extra base hits, including a home run.
