COD Beach Volleyball sweeps at home, knocking off the Rams and Vaqueros
Desert began their winning streak against the Rams, with the team of sophomore Ashtyn Lyneis (Palm Springs H.S.) and freshman Kelsey Smith (Delta, BC South Delta Secondary), who collapsed their opponents in straight sets, 21-9 and 21-11. Continuing the charge for the Roadrunners was the "twos" team of freshman Kendal Faynor (British Columbia Semiahoo Secondary) and the "threes" team of freshman Taylor Adair (Yucca Valley H.S.) and freshman Kathleen Geiberger (Palm Desert H.S.), both teams took Victor Valley in two sets. With the most dominating performance, the "fours" team of sophomore Shay Mesa (Indio Shadow Hills) and sophomore Nicole Svoboda (La Quinta H.S.) easily overpowered the Rams in two sets, 21-4 and 21-6. Victor Valley was unable to field a "fives" team so Deserts team of sophomore Baylie Dashner (La Quinta H.S.) and sophomore Emily Sundback (Rancho Mirage H.S.) took the win.
In the second match for the Roadrunners, the "ones" team of Lyneis and Smith once again jump started a sweep in straight sets, 21-11 and 21-8, but this time against the Vaqueros. Taking their second win of the morning, the "twos" team of Faynor and Garcia knocked off the Vaqueros in two sets, 21-6 and 21-18. For the next three matches Desert dissolved Glendale, winning each match in straight sets. The "threes" team of Adiar and Geiberger won, 21-6 and 21-8, and the "fives" team of Dashner and Sunback won, 21-10 and 21-10. Once again, the "fours" team of Mesa and Svoboda had the most solid performance of the day, overwhelming the Vaqueros, 21-0 and 21-4.
The Next home matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Friday, March 8th beginning at 10 a.m., at the Civic Center Park, where they will take on the Pasadena Lancers. Hope to see you there.
