Baseball Places Four on Foothill All-Conference Teams

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Four College of the Desert baseball student-athletes have been named to Foothill All-Conference teams.  Sophomores Sean Romo (Honolulu, HI/Kalani HS) and DJ Hernandez (La Quinta, CA/La Quinta HS), along with freshman Travis Tanaka (Honolulu, HI/St. Louis HS), were named First-Team, while sophomore Cole Danielson (Cathedral City, CA/Cathedral City HS) received Second-Team honors.

Tanaka led the Roadrunner offense with a .398 batting average, while collecting a team-high 51 hits.  He also drove in 25 runs and belted 12 doubles.  Tanaka would rack up a 15-game hitting streak from March 12-April 14,  with his .458 average in conference games ranking him fourth in the CCCAA.

Hernandez ranked second in batting average with a .348 mark, while leading the team in runs scored (30).  He also collected 22 RBI and one triple, while collecting 39 hits.  Hernandez tied for the team lead with four stolen bases, with his 20 walks ranking second.  

Romo hit .321 with 35 hits and four doubles, while also driving in 20 runs.  He struck out just seven times, and accumulated four stolen bases.  Romo would also score 23 runs.

Danielson ranked third for COD with a .343 batting average, collecting 46 hits, 10 doubles and three triples.  He also drove in 30 runs, while scoring 29 himself.  Danielson stole two bases, while earning 17 walks.
