COD Baseball: Tanaka signs letter with Bellevue

COD Baseball sophomore catcher Travis Tanaka (Honolulu (HI) St. Louis) has signed a letter of intent with Bellevue University.

Tanaka was named first team all-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. He finished tops on the team and 14th in Conference in batting average, hitting .366 over the course of the 40 game season. He had 16 multi-hit games on the season, with five 3 hit games and ten 2 hit games. Tanaka had his best all-around offensive game at home against Chaffey on February 14th, when he went 4 for 5 with a double and three runs scored. Tanaka committed to Bellevue on June 30th.

Desert Baseball ended their first season in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference with a record of 10-30, overall and 8-16 in Conference, finishing seventh. Three Roadrunners were named All-Conference in 2017.

Bellevue University is located in Bellevue, Nebraska, which is about 8 miles south of Omaha. The Bellevue Bruins play at Don Roddy Field, and the team is coached by 8th year, veteran head coach, Duane Monlux. In the 2017 season, the Bruins went 23-1 in conference play, with an overall record of 51-11. Finishing the season in the Opening Round of the NAIA National Championship is in the North Star Athletic Association of NAIA.
