COD Baseball: Kinder signs letter with Graceland

COD Baseball sophomore pitcher Isaiah Kinder (Yucca Valley H.S.) has signed a letter of intent with Graceland University.

The 5-6 right-handed pitcher from Yucca Valley made 16 appearances, averaging a strikeout per inning pitched as he tossed 28 strikeouts over the course of 28.2 innings pitched. He grabbed two wins on the season and a save. Kinder had his best all-around game at Grossmont, on March 1st, where he had six strike outs in two and a third innings against the defending state champs.

The 2018 season was the first year for head coach Chris Walters as Desert ended the season with a record of 12-28 overall and 9-15 in Conference, finishing eighth.

Graceland University is located in Lamoni, Iowa which is about 4 miles north of the Iowa-Missouri border and about 80 miles southwest of Des Moines. The Graceland Yellowjackets play their home games at Chase Stadium and the team is coached by 16th year veteran head coach, Brady McKillip. In 2017-18 season, the Yellowjackets concluded the year with a 17-35 overall record and an 8-20 record in Conference play, finishing seventh. The Yellowjackets are in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) of the NAIA.
