COD Baseball ties game in the 8th, falls to Coyotes, 4-3

COD (0-3) rallied to tie their game at 3-3 in the bottom of the 8th, but a run in the top of the ninth proved to be the difference, as the Roadrunners fell to the Cerro Coso Coyotes of Ridgecrest (3-1), 4-3.

Freshman right fielder Noah Ponce (Riverside Hillcrest) had a good day out of the six hole, going 3 for 4 with an RBI in the 6th and an RBI in the 8th.

The Roadrunners received some great production from their 2-3-4 hitters as they went a combined 6 for 13 with 2 runs scored. Freshman short stop Ryan Rodriguez (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 2 for 5, sophomore third baseman Nathaniel Lopez (Palm Desert H.S.) went 2 for 4 and freshman first baseman Mario Ramirez (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 2 for 4.

Freshman right handed starting pitcher Jacob Gonzalez (Temecula Valley) tossed three innings, two runs, none earned on two hits, walking five and striking out two. Sophomore left handed relief pitcher Henry Bonette (Palm Desert H.S.) was in "Beast Mode" out of the bullpen, throwing three and a third innings, surrendering three hits, with no walks and striking out two.
