COD Baseball opens PCAC play, falls to the Olympians, 4-0

COD (2-14; 0-1) began Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) play by hosting the San Diego Mesa Olympians (6-6-1; 1-0), where the Roadrunners allowed 3 runs in the fifth and a run in the ninth, falling to Mesa, 4-0.

While Desert had seven hits on the afternoon, they couldn't string anything together against a solid pitching performance by the Olympians. Not to be out done, the Roadrunners starting pitcher, freshman right hander Julian Inzunza-Varelas (Thermal Coachella Valley) went eight strong innings, allowing eleven hits and striking out four.

Sophomore center fielder and leadoff hitter, Izayah Alvarez (Palm Desert H.S.), went 2 for 4 and freshman third baseman Michael Macias (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 2 for 4 on the afternoon.

Sophomore catcher Matthew Fisher (Redlands H.S.) went 2 for 3 out of the seven hole in the lineup.
