2019 Season in Review – COD Baseball

COD Baseball players Izayah Alvarez and Ryan Rodriguez were named first team All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

Under second year head coach Chris Walters, the Roadrunners finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 6-34 and conference record of 4-20. The team was bestowed two first team All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference and two Honorable Mentions.

Sophomore center fielder Izayah Alvarez (Palm Desert H.S.) received first team All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference honors for his performance during the 2019 season. He placed second in PCAC and led the team in hits, connecting for a total of 55 times on the season. He led the team in RBIs by bringing home 21 teammates on the season. He tied for 4th place in the PCAC and led the team in triples, with a collected 3 for 2019. Over the season he grabbed a total of 134 put outs, which placed him 16th in PCAC and second on his team. His best game was on March 7th at San Diego City, where he had 5 at bats, 2 runs, 4 hits, 2 doubles, 1 home run and 6 RBIs.

Freshman infielder Ryan Rodriguez (Rancho Mirage H.S.) also received first team All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. Rodriguez placed third on the team in hits, with 36 collected on the season. He also tied for third in RBIs, bringing 17 teammates across the plate in 2019. He was place 10th in PCAC and led the team in assists, as he gathered 83 on the season. His best game was on April 19th at Imperial Valley where he had 6 at bats, 1 run, 4 hits, 1 double, and 3 RBIs.

Freshman Mario Ramirez and freshman Anthony Gutierrez both received Honorable Mentions. Ramirez placed second on the team in runs, with 18 total on the season. His best game was on January 25th at home against East Los Angeles, where he had 4 at bats, 4 runs, 3 hits, 1 double and 1 RBI. Gutierrez tied for third on the team for RBIs, as he collected 17 in 2019. His best game was on April 26th at Mt. San Jacinto with 5 at bats, 1 run, 3 hits, 1 double, and 3 RBIs.
