COD Football Lights Up Scoreboard For First Win
Culver City, CA - The College of the Desert's Football team had their foot on the gas pedal from the opening kickoff and didn't let off until the game was well in hand. The Roadrunners scored 29 first quarter points starting with an Anthony Ellison 77 yard run :17 seconds into the game. The two point conversion was good on a pass from receiver Donovan Wilson and COD was off to the races. Four minutes later the Roadrunners found the endzone again on a 22 yard pass to Myles Goulbourne from running back Tony Williams. Fullback Benjamin Myles added another score to make it 22-0 before West LA's potent offense could get on the board. Trevon Williams caught a 19 yard pass from De'Abrie Smith to complete first quarter scoring and give the Roadrunners a 29-7 lead going into the second.
Myles added another touchdown on the ground and Williams hauled in his second touchdown reception of the night in the second quarter. De'Jon Wilson also returned an extra point 98 yards for two points for the team. COD saw themselves leading by a tally of 44-19 at the half. Desert quickly tacked on 10 more points early in the third on a Kamone Best 1 yard run and an Alex Duarte 35 yard field goal. At 54-19 the Roadrunners found themselves comfortably ahead.
