COD Football sophomore inside linebacker Brayden Bailey (St. George, UT Desert Hills) has signed a letter of intent with University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Named second team All-Mountain Conference defense, Bailey rounded up 57 total tackles and four sacks. His best game was at San Bernardino Valley on October 22nd, where he grabbed ten total tackles.

Under third-year head coach Jack Steptoe, Desert finished the regular season with a record 6-5 overall and 4-1 in conference. As a reward for winning the American Division-Mountain Conference title and going to the Patriotic Bowl, Coach Steptoe was handed Coach of the Year honors.

This is the first Coach of the Year award for head coach Jack Steptoe, who is in his 23rd season overall, who guided the Roadrunners past their 0-2 start, turning their fortunes around immediately, securing their first Bowl appearance since 2011. As a reward for their winning record, the team was bestowed with six first team All-Mountain Conference honors, including the Conference Defensive MVP and five second team All-Mountain Conference honors.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette is located in Lafayette, Louisiana, which is about 130 west of New Orleans. The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns play at Cajun Field, and the team is coached by 5th year, veteran head coach, Mark Hudspeth. In the 2016 season, the Ragin' Cajuns went 5-3 in conference play, with an overall record of 6-7. Finishing the season in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl against Southern Miss. Louisiana- Lafayette is in the Sun Belt Conference of NCAA Division I FBS.
