COD Football: Roland signs letter with UWA

COD Football sophomore offensive lineman Michael Roland (La Porte, IN) has signed a letter of intent with the University of West Alabama.

The 6-3, 300 pound offensive lineman played in the 2015 and 2017 seasons for the Roadrunners, helping Desert running backs to collect 1,617 yards and giving the quarterbacks enough time to pass for 1,960 yards in 2017.

Under fourth-year head coach Jack Steptoe, Desert finished the regular season with a record 4-6 overall and 1-4 in conference. The team was bestowed with three first team All-Mountain Conference honors and two second team All-Mountain Conference honors.

The University of West Alabama is located in Livingston, Alabama, which is about 20 miles east of the Alabama-Mississippi border and about 130 miles west of the State Capitol in Montgomery. The Tigers play at Tiger Stadium and the team is coached by 4th year veteran head coach, Brett Gilliland. In 2017, the Tigers won the Gulf South Conference (GSC) title with a Conference record of 7-1 and an overall record of 10-3, falling in the NCAA D-II Quarterfinals.
