COD (3-4; 1-1) had a defensive night to remember as they went on the road and held the Antelope Valley Marauders of Lancaster (2-5; 0-2) to 185 yards in total offense, including only 73 yards passing keeping the Marauders scoreless for the first time in program history, 12-0.

In a rivalry which spans the distance from when Desert began their football team, 1963, the Marauders had never been shut out by the Roadrunners. The defensive dominance by Desert is what really tells the tale, along with Antelope Valley collecting 173 yards in penalties.

Even though the Roadrunners would have their offensive opportunities in the first half, including a 30 yard field goal attempt right before halftime, which was blocked, both teams would go into the halftime break tied at 0-0, a rarity for Community College football.

Sophomore quarterback Noah Shoeman (Murray, UT) had an impressive night as he had his second best performance of the season, tossing for 322 yards, going 27 for 48 and two touchdowns.

Both scores for Desert would be in the third quarter, when Shoeman would connect with sophomore running back Andre Dreiling-Renteria (Denver (CO) Bear Creek) for a 23 yard score, and after a blocked extra point attempt, the Roadrunners would take a 6-0 lead.

On the very next possession for Desert, Shoeman would complete a short yardage pass to sophomore defensive lineman Scott Arnold (Lancaster Eastside) for a three yard scamper-and-score, and after a failed two-point pass attempt, the Roadrunners would hold a 12-0 lead.

Most impressive was the fact that Shoeman tossed three interceptions and the Roadrunners defense was so potent, that Antelope Valley could not do a thing with the benefits provided.

Arnold returned home to Lancaster and was a personal one man wrecking crew, not only did he grab eight total tackles, he had a three yard pass reception for a touchdown, he snagged a sack and four tackles for loss, totaling 10 yards, which led the history making shut out.

Desert continues American Division-Mountain Conference play by hosting the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville (2-5; 0-2). The last time Desert defeated the Rams it was in 2016 and the game was in Palm Desert, where the Roadrunners walked away with a 48-41 victory. The Roadrunners have a 31-9 record overall against Victor Valley, and a 19-4 record at home, kick off is set for 6 p.m.
