COD Football wraps up 2019 season in tough loss to the Wolverines, 38-0

COD (1-9; 0-5) in a season of "almost's" and "what if's" the season came to an end on Saturday, as the Roadrunners hosted their final contest of 2019, falling to the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (9-1; 5-0), 38-0.

It was the 35th annual COD-SBVC Challenge Trophy Game, a contest the home side would like to push past and restart anew in 2020. The Desert defense was formidable, the front line terrorized the Wolverines quarterbacks and running backs, holding the visitors to just 50 yards on the ground, adding to that, seven sacks, totaling 36 lost yards.

Freshman linebacker Timothy Jones (Sierra Vista (AZ) Buena) and freshman defensive end Tyrell Harvey (Springfield (MO) Central) both had two sacks a piece and freshman defensive end Ervin Gardner lll (McLeansville (NC) Northeast Guilford) had a sack and three quarter back hurries.

Sophomore defensive back Roger Dyujay (Salt Lake City (UT) Olympus) and sophomore linebacker Quintcy Egson (Indio Shadow Hills) a pair of broken up passes between them and freshman linebacker Isaiah Sierra (Tucson (AZ) Empire) had seven total tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery and a quarterback hurry tonight.

The Roadrunners offense owned the time of possession, but three picks and 135 yards of total offense proved to be too much for even the hard scrabble defense to overcome as San Bernardino Valley scored 24 points in the second quarter and carried a 31-0 lead into the half.
