SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- College of the Desert (5-8) men's basketball went 2-1 and defeated Canada 99-89 on their way to taking home third place in last weekend's Santa Barabra City Classic in Santa Babara.
COD opened the event with a thrilling, double-overtime victory over LA Valley, 100-99, and were led by freshman guard William Brown's (Animo Los Angeles HS) 23 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Sophomore forward Zach Waites (Palm Springs HS) added 19 points and five rebounds, while freshman guard Donovan Wilson (Michigan City HS) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Roadrunners fell 96-84 to the tournament host, Santa Barbara, on the event's second day, before boucning back to win the third-place game over Canada.
Brown scored 25 points and recorded seven rebounds to go along with his five steals and four assists, while freshman guard Gabe Solache (Morningside HS) added 20 points and three rebounds. Freshman forward Kameron Dashner (La Quinta HS) was also in double-figures in scoring for COD, with 11 points.
College of the Desert returns to the court Thursday evening for a 5 p.m. game against Palomar.
