COD Men’s Golf snags 3rd place finish at Chino Hills

COD Men's Golf participated in their second event of the 2018 season at the annual Orange Empire Classic, as the team finished 3rd out of ten teams.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its second event, which was hosted at the Los Serranos Country Club - North Course in Chino Hills.

This tournament really brought out the heavy hitters, as the 2017 CCCAA State Finals runner-up Cypress Chargers, along with the entire Orange Empire and most of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. Desert would finish with 375 points, just 7 strokes back of second place finisher, Orange Coast.

Both freshman Joseph Bogaert (Ghent (BE) Sint-Barbara College) and freshman Mitchel McComber (Redlands Citrus Valley) led the way for the Roadrunners, as each player shot a 2-over 74.

Both sophomore Bobby Kim (South Korea) and freshman Clement Heurtin (Nantes (FR) NDTA) both finished with a 3-over 75, this was Heurtin's first event of 2018.

Sophomore Tyler Smith (Palm Desert H.S.) shot a 5-over 77 and Sophomore Steven Wang (Taipei (TW) Municipal Nei-Hu Senior) shot a 6-over 78 to wrap up the two day event for the Roadrunners.

COD will make their next appearance at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont on Wednesday, February 14 as they participate in the Mt. San Jacinto Classic.
