COD Men’s Golf finishes 5th at Riverside

COD Men's Golf participated in their fourth event of the 2018 season at the annual Riverside City Invitational, as the team finished 5th out of 11 teams.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its third event, which was hosted at the historic Victoria Country Club in Riverside.

This tournament really brought out the heavy hitters, as the 2017 CCCAA State Finals runner-up Cypress Chargers, along with the entire Orange Empire and most of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. Desert would finish with 379 points, which was 11 strokes better than their previous effort and just 13 strokes back of winner, Orange Coast.

Sophomore Samuel Berglund (Victoria (AUS) Rowville Secondary College) led the way for the Roadrunners, in making only his second start of the season and shooting a Par-72, for his best performance since shooting a second round 8-over 80 at the Point Conception Open on January 29.

Sophomore Bobby Kim (South Korea) tied his season best with a 3-over, 75 and freshman Joseph Bogaert (Ghent (BE) Sint-Barbara College) had his second best outing of 2018, shooting a 4-over 76.

Sophomore Tyler Smith (Palm Desert H.S.) had his second best outing of 2018, shooting a 5-over 77 and freshman Clement Heurtin (Nantes (FR) NDTA) shot a 7-over, 79.

Freshman Nicklaus Marshall (Bermuda Dunes), in his second event of 2018, shot a 10-over, 82, to wrap up the top six for the Roadrunners.

COD will make their next appearance at Bakersfield Country Club in Bakersfield on Monday, March 5 as they participate in the SoCal Regional Preview.
