COD Men’s Golf wins Conference opener at La Jolla, Kim with 3-under round & Heurtin hits an ace

COD Men's Golf participated in their sixth event of the 2018 season at the opening event for the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, as the team finished in 1st place out of 5 teams.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its sixth event, which was hosted at the world famous North Course of Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla. Desert would finish with 369 points in their lowest point total of the season so far, 5 strokes ahead of second place finisher, Palomar.

Sophomore Bobby Kim (South Korea) was amazing, not only shooting his best round in 2018, but nailing a 3-under 69 to take the top spot on the leaderboard.  

Freshman Clement Heurtin (Nantes (FR) NDTA) not only shot his best round of 2018, but also nailed a hole-in-one on the Par 3, third hole, with a distance of 183 yards, finishing thrid on the leaderboard, but second on the team.

Freshman Eric Pizzulli (Old Bridge, NJ) grabbed a solid three-over, 75 on the morning, shooting a seson best in his second event of 2018.

Freshman Joseph Bogaert (Ghent (BE) Sint-Barbara College) and freshman Nicklaus Marshall (Bermuda Dunes) both shot a four-over 76. This was Marshall's best round of 2018 in only his third event.

Freshman Mitchel McComber (Redlands Citrus Valley) shot a six-over 78 to to wrap up the top six for the Roadrunners. 

Marshall and Kim had Eagles in their rounds and Heurtin shot a three-under, 33, on the front nine. Kim also started his round with a Bogie on his first two holes and then shot five-under after that.

COD will make their next appearance at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont on Monday, March 19 as they continue Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play.
