COD Men’s Golf: Kim advances to CCCAA State Finals

College of the Desert Men's Golf traveled to Bakersfield on Monday, May 7th to participate in the Southern California Regionals tournament, where sophomore Bobby Kim (South Korea) finished 5th to advance to the State Finals.

The Roadrunners sent five participants to this event, which was two 18-hole rounds, 36 holes shot in one long day. The event was held at the Bakersfield Country Club in Bakersfield, CA.

Kim led the Roadrunners in both rounds of the event as he shot one-over in the first half, 73, and seven-over in the latter half, 79 giving him a total of 152.

Freshman Joseph Bogaert (Ghent (BE) Sint-Barbara College) followed close behind as he shot six-over in to start the day, 78, and matched Kim to finish the day as he shot seven-over, 79 giving him a total of 157 on the day.

Freshman Clement Heurtin (Nantes (FR) NDTA) and sophomore Steven Wang (Taipei (TW) Municipal Nei-Hu Senior) both shot 161 on the 36-hole day. Wang started the day shooting five-over, 77, and finished shooting an 84, while Huertin shot an 81 in the morning and shot an 80 in the afternoon.

Shooting a 165 on the day was sophomore Samuel Berglund (Victoria (AUS) Rowville Secondary College) to wrap up the day for the Roadrunners.

Kim will participate in the CCCAA State Finals on Monday, May 14th at Sandpiper Golf Course in Goleta (pronounced Go-Lee-Tah).
