COD Men’s Golf finishes 9th in Bakersfield, Heurtin grabs 3rd overall

COD Men's Golf completed their 13th match of 2019, at the par-72 Bakersfield Country Club in Bakersfield, taking ninth place out of 12 teams.

Desert sent five athletes to participate in the second-to-last non-Conference event of the season, taking ninth with a total of 404 points, 3 strokes behind host Bakersfield and 39 behind the tournament champion, Reedley.

Leading the way for the Roadrunners, sophomore Clement Heurtin (Nantes (FR) NDTA) posted his third best score of the 2019 season and snagging third overall, with a par 72. Sophomore Michael Choma (La Quinta H.S.) kept within his strong season average of a six-over 78 to finish second on the team.

Close behind Choma, was teammate sophomore Maxime Faure (Deauville (FR) Lycee Andre Malraux), who posted a seven-over 79, posting his best result since March 20th.

Freshman Landon Stellingwerff (Calgary, AB Central Memorial) and freshman Bailey Spivak (Palm Desert H.S.) wrapped up the top five for the Roadrunners, with Stellingwerff returning to the clubhouse with an 87 and Spivak nailing an 88.

The Roadrunners will play in the Southern Cal Regional Preview on Monday at Los Serranos CC in Chino Hills.
