PALM DESERT, Calif. - College of the Desert men's soccer fell 3-2 to Rio Hondo in heart-breaking fashion, as a goal by the visitors in the game's final minutes sealed the Foothill Conference match Friday evening in Palm Desert.
Freshman Brandon Montano (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) opened the scoring in the 13th minute, as he drilled a shot to the high, short side over the Rio Hondo goalkeeper.
After allowing two unanswered goals, the Roadrunners struck in the 80th minute when Montano headed in a beautiful cross from freshman Edgar Duran (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS). Rio Hondo would take the lead in the 88th minute, as a shot to the far corner beat COD freshman goalkeeper, Jorge Sepulveda (Cathedral City, CA/Cathedral City HS).
Sepulveda was strong in net for the Roadrunners, making five key saves.
