Women's Soccer Picks up PCAC Victory

College of the Desert Lady Roadrunners secured victory number 3 on the season with an early goal within the first 5 minutes of half number one. Cynthia Hernandez chipped a ball from 25 yards away to beat the Palomar Goalkeeper to the far post. Britney Vargas in the COD net along with the defense would keep the opposition scoreless heading into the halftime break. Then just 3 minutes into the 2nd Half COD would capitalize on a Vanessa Caudillo goal with the assist coming from Madison Decker. COD would out shoot Palomar 17 to 12 on the day but the Palomar side made things interesting making Vargas finish with 8 saves on the day to record the 2nd shutout of the season. This now puts COD at 3-6-1 overall & 2-3 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. Next match for the Roadrunners will be this Friday Oct. 7th at PCAC South Division leader San Diego Mesa @ 1:00pm

We would like to add that our thought and prayers go out to our teammate Vanessa Caudillo as she was taken off the field just 16 minutes into the 2nd half with a head injury and would have be taken to Eisenhower Medical by ambulance before the conclusion of today's game.
