Three College of the Desert Men's Soccer players, freshman forward Masataka Kosugi (Tokyo, Japan Jindai Senior), freshman midfielder Lucas M. Rezende (São Paulo, Brazil) and freshman forward Joao Paulo Stefano-Leite (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Carlos Drummond de Andrade) were recently named to the 2016 CCCAA Academic All-State Team.

Kosugi has been a dominant force on the pitch all season, scoring three goals including a game tying goal in the closing seconds at Antelope Valley on September 6th and Rezende has held his own as leading distributor from the midfield position.

Recipients of this honor must have completed at least one season of soccer, at least 24 units and have earned a 3.5 G.P.A. or higher. Vargas and Hannibal were two of only 32 women to receive the honor across the entire state.
