COD (2-8-2; 2-5-1) tied the game late in a dramatic goal to take a 1-1 lead going into halftime, but a PK in the second half, helped the San Diego Mesa Olympians (5-2-6; 3-0-4) sneak past the Roadrunners, 2-1.

COD got out of the gate fast, with hopes of burying the Olympians early as freshman midfielder Juan Rodrigues de Miranda took several shots on goal right away. Attacking the net early and often was the theme of the day for the Roadrunners as they penetrated the Mesa defense multiple times, leaving the keeper scrambling back to recover.

After three huge saves, Roadrunners sophomore starting goal keeper Sergio Hernandez (La Quinta H.S.) made a play for the ball and an Olympians player jumped in front and got a head on the ball, putting into the back of the net and giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Three minutes later, the Roadrunners hard work finally paid off, as sophomore forward Matheus Silva Rego took a corner, feeding the ball to freshman defender Alejandro Delgado (Thermal Coachella Valley) who stood about 30 yards out and proved he is a snipper as he took down the Olympians keeper from way back, scoring the equalizer and tying the game at 1-1 just before halftime.

Early in the second half, a late whistle put the Olympians on the PK dot and they converted their opportunity, taking a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately, as hard as COD tried to tie the game, that is how the contest would end.
