COD Men’s Soccer lost a tough one against the Wolverines, 7-1

COD (3-12-2; 3-9-1) was left looking for answers after allowing four goals in the first half, finally getting on the board in the second half in a loss to the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (10-4-5; 8-3-2), 7-1.

The Wolverines scored in the 4th and 10th minutes, putting the Roadrunners on their heels immediately, but they did not falter. Desert would continue to take deep drives into the San Bernardino Valley territory as they attempted to regain control of the game. Unfortunately, the Wolverines would put two more goals into the back of the net in injury time in the first half, as both teams went into the break, with San Bernardino Valley up 4-0.

Adding to the misery was a penalty kick awarded to the Wolverines in the 49th minute, which was converted, giving the visitors a 5-0 lead. Then Desert responded when sophomore forward Joao Stefano Leite (Sao Paulo, Brazil) ran straight at the Wolverines keeper, who ran right towards him to cut down the angle, that's when Leite lifted a shot right over the keepers head and as he ran back, the San Bernardino Valley keeper could only watch as the Roadrunners goal slipped up and over into the back of the net.

Unfortunately, in the 68th minute, a defensive miscue by the Roadrunners led to a defender heading the ball into his own net.
