COD Men’s Soccer falls to frustrating Jaguars, 2-0

COD (1-3-2) played a tough match, surrendering a goal in the 10th minute and relying on the keeper to hold the game close, the Roadrunners lost a tough one at home, 2-0.

The Chula Vista Southwestern Jaguars (3-2-3) opened up the scoring in the 10th minute as a Jaguars midfielder poked in a redirected shot to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead. A lead that they would attempt to build upon, but Roadrunners freshman goal keeper Michael Cruz (Thermal Desert Mirage) would have none of that.

Cruz played a brilliant game making seven saves alone in the first half and when the halftime whistle sounded, the score was still 1-0.

And the Desert defense would continue to stymie the Jaguars forwards and midfielders, but in the 71st minute a slide tackle in front of the Roadrunners bench was believed to be a potential call. Unfortunately, there was no call by the middle official and Southwestern took full advantage. As the Jaguars raced up the field, the Southwestern player struck a shot up over the out of position keeper, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead.
