COD Men’s Soccer: Teran, Gastelum and Rivera sign to compete at four-year colleges

COD Men's Soccer sends Teran to CSUSB, Gastelum to Hope International and Rivera to Academy of Art University.

Sophomore defender Andrassy Teran (La Quinta H.S.) has signed his letter of intent with the California State University, San Bernardino Coyotes.

Teran played a crucial role in the Roadrunners finishing the 2018 season with an overall record of 13-4-5 and Pacific Coast Conference record of 10-1-5.

Cal State San Bernardino serves more than 20,000 students and over 4,000 graduates. Under fourth-year head coach Darren Leslie, the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer team finished with an overall record of 12-6-1 and a CCAA record of 8-3-1.

Sophomore defender Armando Rivera (Thermal Desert Mirage) has signed his letter of intent with the Academy of Art University Urban Knights in San Francisco. Rivera was named All-Southern Team and All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. His best game was on a home win, on October 23rd where he scored one goal and had one assist.

The Urban Knights are a NCAA Division II athletics program with two NCAA National Championships, 35 NCAA National Championship appearances, and 114 NCAA All-Americans. Under first year head coach Matt Martin, the Urban Knights completed the 2018 season with an overall record of 2-14-2 and a PacWest conference record of 1-9-1.

Sophomore forward Luis Gastelum (Rancho Mirage H.S.) has signed his letter of intent with Hope International University Royals located in Fullerton. Gastelum's best game was on October 12th at Imperial Valley as he scored one goal and had two assists in the Roadrunners 9-0 shutout. He was selected All-State, All-Southern California, and All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

Hope International University was founded in 1928 and competes in 20 sports within the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Under tenth-year head coach Joe Lurker, the Royals finished the 2018 season 7-9 overall and 2-6 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.

Under second-year head Coach Enrique Cardenas, the Roadrunners collected the first 13 win season since 2006, as they finished the year at the regional semifinals in the CCCAA State Championships.
