COD Men’s Soccer will travel to #6 Oxnard Saturday in SoCal Quarterfinals

COD Men's Soccer has claimed the #11 seed and will be on the road in the opening round of the SoCal Regional playoffs after winning their second consecutive Conference Title.

There was a correction to the playoff seeding alignment by the statewide governing body, the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). Originally, the bracket had the Roadrunners as the #8 seed, but after a review, the CCCAA stated on their official Twitter feed, @CCCAASports, "The CCCAA SoCal Men's Soccer Regionals have been reseeded for administrative reasons." Regardless, road or home, your Roadrunners will represent College of the Desert proudly and they look forward to your support.

State Playoffs Ticket Prices are as follows: General Admission is $12. Faculty, Staff, Children Under 12, Adults 60+ & Students w/ Valid A.S. card are $8. The game will take place on the campus of Oxnard College and will kick off at the Track / Soccer Field (aka "The Condors Nest") at 2 p.m.

Under the tutelage of third-year head coach Enrique Cardenas, the #11 seeded Roadrunners Men's Soccer team ended the 2019 season claiming their 6th Conference championship and the inaugural Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) Coach of the Year award.

Cardenas was awarded, for the second consecutive season, as Coach of the Year finishing the regular season, with a 10-9-2 overall record and a 5-3 conference record, wrapping up the regular season winning 6 of their final 8 games. They were rewarded with the 11 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Desert will face off with an Oxnard Condors team that finished the regular season with a record of 15-3-3, the Condors ended the 2019 season as Champions of the Western State Conference-North Division (WSC-North) with a record of 6-1-3. The Condors started the season 8-2, and have only one loss in their last 11 games.

Oxnard finished the 2018 season second in the WSC-North with a record of 6-1-3, with an overall record of 14-5-4. The Condors were most recently in the playoffs in the 2018 season entering the Southern California Regional's as the 8th seed, Oxnard lost at top seeded Cerritos in the second round of Regional's, 1-0 in double overtime. The Condors are coached by Ross Greaney in his 10th season.

Desert and Oxnard have played each other 10 times since 1983, the most recent time being in 2007, accumulating an overall record of 4-4-2 with a 1-1 record at Oxnard. The last time Desert defeated the Condors was on September 19, 2001 at Oxnard, where the Roadrunners won 2-1.

The winner of Saturday's first-round contest will advance to face the winner of No. 14 Bakersfield Renegades and No. 3 Fullerton Hornets on Tuesday (Nov. 26) or Wednesday (Nov. 27). Three wins are needed to advance to the CCCAA Soccer State Championship on Dec. 6 & Dec. 8 at De Anza College in Cupertino.
