COD Men’s Soccer uses two 2nd half goals to douse the Dons, 2-1

COD (5-2-2) poked in two second half goals, with the Roadrunners game winner bulging the twine in the 89th minute, as Desert grabbed a huge road win, knocking down the Santa Ana Dons (3-3-2), 2-1.

While Santa Ana got onto the scoreboard first, in the 12th minute, the Roadrunners defense dug in and freshman goal keeper Sebastian Ascencio (La Quinta H.S.) had a marvelous game in net for Desert. Facing nine shots, with five on goal and making four saves on the afternoon.

The Dons would hold a 1-0 lead going into halftime, but Desert would equalize in the 55th minute as sophomore defender Omar Felix (Thermal Coachella Valley) connected with freshman defender Elijah Chavez (Cathedral City H.S.) to tie the game at 1-1.

In the 76th minute, Santa Ana changed keepers and the Roadrunners capitalized in the 89th minute as sophomore defender Ezequiel Minero (Desert Hot Springs H.S.) found the back of the net for the game winner.
