COD Men’s Soccer Battles to Scoreless Draw at San Diego Mesa

Still searching for their first win of the season, the College of the Desert men's soccer team (0–4–2) earned their second draw of the year, playing the San Diego Mesa Olympians (0–2–1) to a 0–0 stalemate on the road.

Heading into the match, the Roadrunners had dominated recent history against the Olympians, winning six of the previous seven meetings, including the last four straight. This time, however, both sides struggled to break through in a tightly contested defensive battle.

Freshman goalkeeper Andrew Marquez (Beaumont H.S.) stood tall between the posts, playing all 90 minutes and recording his first career clean sheet with two saves. Sophomore midfielder Hector Baltierra (La Quinta H.S.) led the COD attack with two shots on goal, while five different Roadrunners tested the Mesa keeper throughout the evening.

The Roadrunners will now take a 10-day break before resuming play on the road against the Cuyamaca Coyotes in El Cajon. They'll return home on Tuesday, September 23 at 4 p.m. to host the Imperial Valley Desert Warriors (1–1) at Xavier College Preparatory High School in Palm Desert.
