PCAC press release on the All-Conference honors HERE

COD wrapped up another wonderful season, which saw an undefeated record turn into plaques, as the Roadrunners won the Singles Title, the Doubles Title, the Coach of the Year award, the MVP Award and the Sportsmanship award.

As they completed their victories in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) Finals on Saturday, Desert had to ready themselves for the upcoming CCCAA SoCal Regional Semifinals beginning on Tuesday, where the #3 Roadrunners will travel to the #2 seeded Irvine Valley Lasers.

The PCAC Coach of the Year award was won by Desert in back-to-back years as head coach, Guy Fritz was handed the award for 2019 and all six Roadrunners were honored with All-Conference selections. In addition, all six Desert players qualified for the CCCAA State Finals at Ojai in both singles and doubles competition.

Freshman Alex Kuperstein (Palm Desert H.S.) was named the PCAC Most Outstanding Player after defeating in the extra set teammate sophomore Kalman Boyd (Solana Beach Fusian Academy) in the singles Conference Finals, 6-2 and 2-6, then winning in the extra frame 10-5.

Kuperstein got to the Conference singles finale after defeating freshman Manfred Vogt (Mexico City (MX) Universidad Panamerican Preparatoria) in a walkover as Vogt retired due to a health related issue. Vogt was later awarded the Sportsmanship Award by the PCAC Men's Tennis coaches.

Freshman Saar Rogovski (Rosh HaAyin (ISR) Menachem Begin), freshman Sebastian Gomez Romero (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Syed Hosain (Abu Dhabi (UAE) GEMS American Academy) all won their first round matches, falling in the second round.

It was an all Desert final on the doubles side as well, as the number one team of Boyd and Kuperstein took on the number two team of Gomez Romero and Vogt with the "One's" team grabbing the win and the title.

The "Two's" team had to go through the Roadrunners number three team of Rogovski and Hosain to get to the semifinal.
