COD Softball hosts first home game of 2018, falls to Dons in 5

COD (3-5) after being "road warriors" for the first seven games of the 2018 season, the Roadrunners hosted the Santa Ana Dons (8-6), with the home side falling 13-0 in five innings.

Sophomore second baseman Jada Toland (Indio Shadow Hills), batting out of the six slot, went 2 for 2 on the afternoon, grabbing hits in the second and fourth innings.

Freshman left fielder Nalacia Nelson (Beaumont H.S.), freshman center fielder Vanessa Madera (Thermal Coachella Valley) and freshman right fielder Kaitlin Manning (Palm Desert Xavier Prep) all had a hit apiece on the afternoon.

The Roadrunners best chance to score was in the bottom of the fourth, when Desert loaded the bases with two outs, but failed to get a run across.

Next home game for College of the Desert Softball will be March 2nd at 1 p.m., where they will resume Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play by hosting the Imperial Valley Arabs. Hope to see you there.
