COD (0-4) ended up face-to-face with some of the toughest competition as they fell to Sequoias and Citrus in the Pasadena City College President's Roundball Classic.

In the opening round of the PCC President's Roundball Classic, Desert found themselves in a tough spot early against the College of the Sequoias Giants (4-0), as the Roadrunners fell, 79-20.

Sophomore guard Mercades Young (Moreno Valley Vista Del Lago) came off the bench and was the leading scorer for the Roadrunners, with 5 points on 2 of 5 shooting from the field. Sophomore starting guard Jada Toland (Indio Shadow Hills) and freshman center Destiny Fraizer (Blythe Palo Verde Valley) followed, scoring 4 points. Toland contributed an assist while Frazier contributed two steals. Sophomore starting forward Kaitlyn Cox (La Quinta H.S.) led the team in total rebounds with nine.

On the consolation side of the bracket, the Roadrunners were ahead 21-13 in their first quarter of the match-up with the Citrus Fighting Owls (3-2), unfortunately, they were unable to hold on to the lead, falling 65-42.

The leading scorer for Desert was Cox, who put up 10 points on 4 of 7 shooting and led the team with seven total boards. Freshman guard Vanessa Madera (Thermal Coachella Valley) was the leading scorer off the bench with six points and led the team in assists with three. Freshman forward Julie Rodriguez (Indio Shadow Hills) led the team in steals off the bench with two.
