COD Women’s Basketball busts up 26-game losing streak, rolls past Wolverines, 51-36

COD (1-17; 1-2) turned a corner under first year coach Timi Brown and received her first win helming the Roadrunners program as they turned back the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (4-13; 0-2), 51-36.

The Roadrunners put together a complete effort as they dominated in almost every offensive category: points in the paint, points off turnovers and 2nd chance points in breaking up a losing streak which stretched into last season, with their most recent win prior to tonight having been January 12, 2018.

After a slow start, Desert held their ground in the second quarter and went into halftime down 18-11, but then the Roadrunners exploded in the third, scoring their highest single quarter point total in the season so far, 26 points.

Freshman starting forward Kiley Pitts (Yucca Valley H.S.) had a monster game as she collected her first double-double of the season in a huge way, by grabbing 21 total rebounds and 11 points on 5 of 13 shooting.

Sophomore starting center Destiny Frazier (Blythe Palo Verde Valley) was hosting a "block party" in the key as she swatted away seven Wolverines shot along with grabbing her fourth double-double of the season, and second in back-to-back games, leading the team with 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting and nagging 11 boards.

Sophomore starting guard Kiera Duran (Garden Grove Bolsa Grande) had a strong night, contributing nine points on 3 of 11 shooting and grabbing eight boards, while leading the teams in steals with three.
