COD Women’s Basketball celebrates sophomore night, falls to #13 Comets, 83-49

COD (1-21; 1-4) honored 7 of their 8 players on Sophomore Night as the team hosted the #13 team in the state, the Palomar Comets of San Marcos (20-6; 4-1), falling to the Comets, 83-49.

While Desert tried to keep close with the Comets, they proved to be too much to catch, as the Palomar 8-person bench scored 54 points, and the Roadrunners 3-person bench scored 11 points. Three-point shooting percentages were nearly identical, but Palomar hit 11 of 37 (29.7%) and the Roadrunners hit 4 of 14 (28.6%).

Sophomore starting guard Zuri Outlaw (Corona H.S.) led the way for the Roadrunners, with 14 points on 3 of 9 shooting and an outstanding 2 for 2 from beyond the arc and a perfect 6 for 6 from the free throw line.

Sophomore starting guard Alissa Munayco (Indio Shadow Hills) added 10 points on 3 of 9 shooting and going 2 for 6 from three-point range.

Sophomore starting center Destiny Frazier (Blythe Palo Verde Valley) had a good night with nine points on 3 of 5 shooting and nine total boards and sophomore starting guard Kiera Duran (Garden Grove Bolsa Grande) grabbed ten boards on the night to lead the team.
