Women's Golf Takes Second in Orange Empire Conference Tournament

BANNING, Calif. - College of the Desert women's golf saw a three-stroke lead evaporate after day one, but still placed second at the Orange Empire Conference tournament in Banning.

The Lady Roadrunners finished just four strokes back of tournament champion, Mt. San Antonio (689-693), while completing their season with a record of 82-14.

Sophomore Fumika Matsumoto (Japan/Chiba-Ketzai) earned tournament MVP and First-Team All-Conference honors, as she scored a round-best 158 (76 and 82) over the two days.  Freshman Yi Chen Tsai (Taiwan/Oversea) was also named First-Team All-Conference, as she finished with a two-day total of 170 (86 and 84).  

Freshman Kabrea Rosas (La Quinta, CA/La Quinta) was the third member of the Lady Roadrunners to earn First-Team accolades, shooting a two-day total of 169 (83 and 86).  

College of the Desert has qualified for the Southern California Regional, which begins Sunday morning, November 8 in Solvang.
