COD Women’s Golf takes 2nd at Desert Classic, Liu finishes in 2nd

COD Women's Golf participated in their second event of the 2017 season at the annual Desert Classic, as the team finished 2nd and sophomore Li Chi Liu (Palm Desert H.S.) collected a 2nd place individual finish.

The Roadrunners sent five participants to its second event, which was hosted at the par-72 Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort in Palm Springs over a two-day period.

All four Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) teams participated in this event, three Western State Conference teams and two Orange Empire teams join the fray as well.

Desert would finish with 646 points over the two-day tournament, three strokes back of first place finisher, Santa Barbara City. Impressively, the Roadrunners shaved off 30 strokes from their first two-day tournament and closed the gap, eventually surpassing Saddleback on day two, taking second place.

Liu resumed her dominance from week one, as she shot a six-over 78 on day one and one-under 71 on day two, giving her a total of 149 and tying her with an opponent from Irvine Valley College.

Freshman Zoe Walker (Palm Desert Xavier Prep.) shot a 78 on day one and a 77 on day two, finishing 2nd on the team and freshman Natalie Brugler (Santa Cruz Soquel) shot an 80 on day one and a 76 on day two for 3rd on the team, one stroke behind Walker.

Shooting a 186, and dropping six strokes from the previous week was freshman Vivica Garcia (Thermal Coachella Valley). Sophomore Alexa Perez (Indio Shadow Hills) shot a 210, dropping 12 strokes form the previous week to wrap up the two day event for the Roadrunners.

COD will make their next appearance in the first PCAC event for 2017, at The Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto on Patriot Day, Monday, September 11.
