COD Women’s Golf finishes 10th at SoCal Finals

COD Women's Golf participated in their final event of the 2017 season, as the team finished 10th at the SoCal Finals.

The Roadrunners sent four participants to its final event on the calendar, which was hosted at the par-72 Temecula Creek Inn in Temecula.

Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) Athlete of the Year sophomore Li Chi Liu (Palm Desert H.S.) was unable to participate in the SoCal Finals due to a family emergency in her native Taiwan.

The PCAC had great representation at this Regional Championship as three teams brought their full contingent to participate and one team brought three qualifyers. The Roadrunners hit 5 strokes behind of their nearest competition, Palomar College. Desert would finish with a total of 788 points in the two day event, which was 11 strokes better than their effort in the PCAC Finals the week before.

Freshman Zoe Walker (Palm Desert Xavier Prep.) opened up day one of the SoCal Finals, shooting a 13-over 85 and shot an 18-over 90 on day two for a total of 175 to lead the team, finishing 24th overall.

Freshman Natalie Brugler (Santa Cruz Soquel) was close behind, shooting an 18-over 90 on day one and a 14-over 86 on day two, concluding the SoCal Finals in a three-way tie for 25th place with a score of 176. The result was 5-strokes better than her finish at the PCAC Finals and finishing second on the team.

Shooting a 109 on day one and a 108 on day two was freshman Vivica Garcia (Thermal Coachella Valley), finishing 55th overall. Sophomore Alexa Perez (Indio Shadow Hills) shot a 110 on day one and a 110 on day two, finishing 56th overall to wrap up the SoCal Finals for the Roadrunners.
