COD Women’s Golf grabs 2nd place finish at SoCal Finals in Solvang

COD Women's Golf will be going to the CCCAA State Finals after a strong second place showing at the SoCal Finals and sophomore Zoe Walker (Palm Desert Xavier Prep) collected a 7th place individual finish on day two.

The Roadrunners sent all six participants to its final regional event, which was hosted at the par-72 River Course at the Alisal in the Central California Coastal town of Solvang.

The Roadrunners were joined by two other representatives from the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference at this event.

Desert would finish with 647 points over the two-day tournament, which was 141 strokes better than the Roadrunners 2017 appearance and only 44 strokes back of the regional champions, College of the Canyons.

Walker led the way for the Roadrunners in total score, shooting a 157. Walker shot a nine-over 81 on day one and an impressive four-over 76 on day two. Freshman Dagmar Urbankova (Brno, Czech Republic) was consistent both days, as she shot an eight-over 80 on day one and an eight-over 80 on day two.

Sophomore Natalie Brugler (Santa Cruz Soquel) shot a seven-over 79 on day one and a 10-over 82 on day two, giving her a total of 161. Freshman Lilyanna Rodriguez (Palm Desert H.S.) shot a 17-over 89 on day one and refocused on day two, shooting a strong eight-over 80, for a total of 169.

Freshman Emma Sorenson (Vancouver (WA) Prairie) shot a 97 on day one and an 90 on day two and sophomore Vivica Garcia (Thermal Coachella Valley) shot a 206 to wrap up the two day event for the Roadrunners.

COD will make their next appearance at the CCCAA State Finals two-day tournament at Morro Bay GC in Morro Bay, beginning on Veteran's Day, Sunday, November 11 as the Roadrunners attempt to win their 5th state title since 1995.
