COD Women’s Golf takes an incredible 2nd place finish at the State Finals

COD Women's Golf went to the CCCAA State Finals and came home with an impressive second place finish and landing two players with top ten finishes.

The Roadrunners sent all six participants to play in the state championships, hosted off the central California coast at the par-72 Morro Bay Golf Course in beautiful Morro Bay.

Desert finished with an outstanding 633 points on the two-day event, finishing even stronger at the finals than the SoCal Regionals, and only 18 strokes behind the state champions, College of the Canyons.

Sophomore Zoe Walker (Palm Desert Xavier Prep) was the team leader all season, and this event was no different. She grabbed a fifth place finish in the individual state rankings, shooting four-over 76 on day one and one-over 73 on day two, totaling 149 on the event.

Close behind was freshman Dagmar Urbankova (Brno, Czech Republic) who shot seven-over 79 on day one and four-over 76 on day two, scoring a 155 to grab a 10th place finish on the two-day championship event.

Freshman Lilyanna Rodriguez (Palm Desert H.S.) was not far behind, finishing 18th in state, shooting a 13-over 85 and catching her bearings on day two to shoot a four-over 76, totaling 161.

Sophomore Natalie Brugler (Santa Cruz Soquel) shot 13-over 85 and 10-over 82, totaling 168. Freshman Emma Sorenson (Vancouver (WA) Prairie) shot 185 on the two-day event while sophomore Vivica Garcia (Thermal Coachella Valley) shot 199 at the State Championships.
