COD Women’s Golf grabs a 3rd place finish at SoCal Finals in San Dimas

COD Women's Golf will be going to the CCCAA State Finals after a strong third place showing at the SoCal Finals and freshman Raegan Preece (Imperial H.S.) collected a 5th place individual finish.

The Roadrunners sent all five participants to its final regional event, which was hosted at the par-72 Via Verde Country Club in San Dimas.

The Roadrunners were joined by four other representatives from the Orange Empire Conference at this event. There are only two Women's Golf Conferences in Southern California, as a result it was an Orange Empire Conference vs. Western State Conference showdown in San Dimas.

Desert would finish with 682 points over the two-day tournament, only 37 strokes back of the regional champions, College of the Canyons.

Raegan led the way for the Roadrunners in total score, shooting a 161. Raegan shot an impressive six-over 78 on day one and an 83 on day two. Sophomore Lilyanna Rodriguez (Palm Desert H.S.) shot an 87 on day one and an 83 on day two, giving her a total of 170.

Freshman Maddie Jones (Palm Desert H.S.) shot an 89 on day one and then dropped five-strokes off of her score on day two, shooting an 84, giving her a total of 173 and finishing third on the team.

Freshman Morgan Preece (Imperial H.S.) was consistent both days, as she shot a 90 on day one and then dropped two-strokes off of her score on day two, shooting an 88, giving her a total of 178.

Freshman Isabelle Smith (Indio Shadow Hills) shot a 222 to wrap up the two day event for the Roadrunners.

COD will make their next appearance at the CCCAA State Finals two-day tournament at Morro Bay GC in Morro Bay, beginning on Sunday, November 17 as the Roadrunners attempt to win their 5th state title since 1995.
