Women's Soccer Moves to 2-0 Following Big Victory Over Allan Hancock

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Freshmen midfielders Madison Decker (Palm Desert, CA / Aquinas HS) and Monica Monay (Palm Desert, CA / Cathedral City HS) each scored two goals as College of the Desert women's soccer cruised to a 7-0 victory over Allan Hancock this past Saturday afternoon in Santa Maria. 

Sophomore midfielder Florangelica Coyote (Indio, CA / Shadow Hills HS) opened the scoring for the Lady Roadrunners in the 32nd minute, and was then quickly followed in the 37th minute by Decker's first goal of the afternoon.  Sophomore Gabriela Lewis (Indio, CA / La Quinta HS) put COD up 3-0 just before the break, when she scored on an assist by freshman midfielder Reyna Gutierrez (Desert Hot Springs, CA / Desert Hot Springs HS) following a rebound on a corner kick.

Monay's first goal of the day opened the scoring in the second half, as she converted on a penalty kick in the 51st minute.  She struck quickly with her second goal, in the 57th minute, as her chip from 25 yards out beat the Allan Hancock keeper. 

Decker notched her second of the day in the 58th minute, with sophomore forward Shadae Brown (Palm Springs, CA / Palm Springs HS) finishing off the scoring for the Lady Roadrunners.

Freshmen goalkeepers Brianna Lazzarini (Indio, CA / La Quinta HS) and Elizabeth Moreno (Desert Hot Springs, CA / Desert Hot Springs HS) split the shutout in net for COD, while sophomore defender Rebecca Recino (Palm Springs, CA / Palm Springs) chipped in on offense with an assist.

College of the Desert (2-0) returns to action Tuesday, September 1 when they travel to Norco for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
