Women's Soccer Suffers 2-1 Defeat in Homer Opener

PALM DESERT, Calif - College of the Desert women's soccer suffered a 2-1 setback at the hands of San Diego Miramar in front of a raucous home crowd Friday evening at Boone Field.

The Lady Roadrunners jumped on the board first in the 32nd minute, when sophomore midfielder Brenda Arauz (Cathedral City, CA/Cathedral City HS)  finished off a nice assist from freshman midfielder Reyna Gutierrez (Desert Hot Springs, CA/Desert Hot Springs HS).

San Diego Miramar brought a ferocious attack to the second 45, and earned the tying goal in the game's 59th minute.  As COD tried to hold for a draw, Miramar pushed for their game-winning goal via a shot from the left wing in the 72nd minute.

The Lady Roadrunners (3-2-1) return to their home field next Tuesday, September 15 for a 4 p.m. match against West Los Angeles.
