COD Women's Soccer: Rivera earns a hat trick as Desert wins at Imperial Valley, 6-1

COD (4-5-1) collects their 27th all-time win against Imperial Valley (1-7-3), 6-1.

College of the Desert got on the scoreboard first when freshman forward Reanna Rivera (La Quinta H.S.) scored a goal in the 18th minute a she beat the IVC goalkeeper from inside the six yard box, that trend would continue as Rivera in the 29th minute would take a corner kick from freshman forward Jaidah Martin (Rancho Mirage H.S.) and scored off a header again inside the six yard box. In the 39 freshman midfielder April Contreras (Palm Desert H.S.) would score her 1st collegiate goal for the Roadrunners after she punched in a shot past the keeper, then minutes later in the 43rd freshman midfielder Araceli Jimenez-Alonzo (Thermal Desert Mirage) would score her 1st college goal for Desert, sophomore midfielder Alexi Mejia (La Quinta H.S.) sliding her a nice pass to head into halftime. Desert did not waste much time and neither did Rivera as she was back on the scoreboard with 48 minute goal after freshman forward Savannah Cervantes (Rancho Mirage H.S.) gave her a nice through ball to allow Rivera to beat the keeper for the hat trick on the day. However the Roadrunners were not done with the scoring on the day in the 59th minute freshman midfielder Jennifer Salcido (Thermal Coachella Valley) would score in her 2nd game in a row beating the keeper her out of her box. IVC would score a goal in the 65th minute off second half COD keeper freshman goal keeper Kaylin Eastman (Indio Shadow Hills), in the first 45 minutes freshman goal keeper Marqisha Zamudio-Ontiveros (Thermal Coachella Valley) would have a clean sheet.
