COD has match conclude in a draw for second Tuesday in a row.

COD (6-8-4; 4-4-2) hosted Norco College (7-7-1; 5-3-1) on Tuesday November 5th, and both teams were fit to be tied.

On a day that saw only the fourth meeting between the College of the Desert and Norco College compete as they now are in the newly formed IEAC. This was the first trip ever for Norco to Palm Desert in those four contest. The Lady Roadrunners would start the day off by taking an early lead in the 1st half when freshman Center-back Daniela Iniguez (Thermal Coachella Valley) would rocket a low line drive shot from 30 yards out and when the Norco Goalkeeper could not handle the ball freshman Midfielder Isabel Alvarez (Indio Shadow Hills) would come in to get the rebound dribble to her right side and slot the ball into the back of the net in the 14th minute. Only two minutes later in the 16th minute freshman Midfielder Ashley Murguia (Indio), would take a pass from fellow freshman Fabiana Zavala (Thermal Desert Mirage) and hit a shot from 20 yards out to beat the Norco Goalkeeper for an early 2-0 lead. Unfortunately that lead for the Roadrunners would be cut in half when Norco would score in the 18th minute on a poorly cleared ball to a Norco player just slipping it past the Goalkeeper for Desert. The game would remain would fairly even in the 2nd half with both Desert and Norco missing goal scoring chances, the Roadrunners had a chance to extend the lead early on in the second 45 minutes with a run down the right side, only to see that shot being put off frame. Both teams would battle for the following 20 minutes with Norco breaking through down the right flank beating Desert for the equalizer in the 67th minute. Norco would take 19 shots on the day versus College of the Deserts 11 and sophomore Goalkeeper Marqisha Zamudio-Ontiveros (Thermal Coachella Valley) would make 7 saves on the day keeping Desert in the match with some crucial saves. The final 23 minutes would be a very spirited back and forth affair for both programs, only to have the game end in a draw, once again for the Lady Roadrunners. With this game it ties a program high for ties (4) in a season equaling the 1998, 2001 & 2016 seasons.

Thursday November 7th will mark the final 2019 Home game for the Lady Roadrunners as they host Palomar College for a 3:00pm kickoff. This will serve as the final game at COD for six of our sophomore Roadrunners student/athletes with a ceremony being conducted at halftime of this match, please come out to honor and support these young ladies.
