COD Women’s Tennis: Stepien named PCAC Athlete of the Week

COD Women's Tennis Freshman Claudia Stepien (Palm Desert H.S.) was named the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference's (PCAC) Female Athlete of the Week for the week of April 17th.

According to the release, issued by PCAC Sports Information Director, Tom Saxe, "Stepien captured the PCAC singles title by defeating Mesa's Mikeayla Hatzopolus 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in the finals, and teamed with freshman Ana Laura Ochoa-Castillo from Atrisco Heritage Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico to defeat Mt. San Jacinto's Taylor Johnson and Stephanie Kei de Leon 7-5, 6-3 for the conference doubles championship.

It was the first time Stepien had been paired with Ochoa-Castillo. They had to fight back from a 4-0 deficit in the first set."

Next event for College of the Desert Women's Tennis will be the CCCAA State Finals in Ojai, beginning Thursday, April 26th. Hope to see you there.
