COD Women's Tennis sweeps away the Comets, 9-0

COD (3-2; 3-1) tied for second in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC), after catching the Comets (1-4; 0-2), 9-0.

In doubles play the team of sophomore Claudia Stepien (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Karla Munoz (Rancho Mirage H.S.) overwhelmed their opponents, winning 8-1. Palomar could not fill the next two team so the team of sophomore Andrea Rapan (Thermal Coachella Valley) and sophomore Annaya Zubick (Palm Springs H.S.) and the team of freshman Madison Burns (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman Vanessa Rodriguez (Palm Springs H.S.) took the wins for the Roadrunners.

In singles play, Stepien easily collected her fifth straight victory on the season and remains undefeated, as she won in two sets, 6-0 and 6-0. Continuing the sweep for Desert, was Munoz who also easily collapsed her opponent in two sets, 6-0 and 6-0. Finishing the day for Desert, Rodriguez added another win in two set, 6-2 and 6-1. The Comets were unable to fill the remaining matches, so Rapan, Burns, and Zubik all took a win.

The next match for College of the Desert Women's Tennis will be in Palm Desert on March 5th at 2p, where they will host a non-Conference match against the Rio Hondo Roadrunners of Whittier.
