Women's Volleyball Suffers 3-2 Setback at the Hands of San Diego

PALM DESERT, Calif. - College of the Desert women's volleyball rushed out to a 2-0 lead against visiting San Diego, but could not close out the match, as they fell 15-13 in the fifth set to drop the match 3-2 Wednesday evening in Palm Desert.

Freshman Savannah Sharp (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert HS) led the ferocious COD attack, drilling 19 kills.  Fellow freshman, Angelica Sayo (Palm Desert, CA/Xavier College Prep), followed suit on offense with eight kills, 10 digs and three service aces.

Sophomore Alyssa Cazares (Indio, CA/Shadow Hills HS) had seven kills to match her jersey number, while also recording 10 digs and three service aces.  Sophomore Maygan Zink (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) aided in the attack with 30 assists, as freshman Kaylie Edgar (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs) was strong defensively with 26 digs.

College of the Desert (2-8) returns to the court Friday evening for a 5:30 p.m. home match against Antelope Valley.
