Women's Volleyball Sweeps Antelope Valley

PALM DESERT, Calif.- College of the Desert women's volleyball battled their way through three tough sets en route to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-23)  sweep of visiting Antelope Valley Friday evening in Palm Desert.  

Sophomore Shavonne Lascelle (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) led the Lady Roadrunner's attack with nine kills, while freshman Angelica Sayo (Palm Desert, CA/Xavier Prep HS) followed suit with eight kills and three service aces of her own.  

Freshman Savannah Sharp (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert) added seven kills, as sophomore Alyssa Cazares (Indio, CA/Shadow Hills HS) completed the balanced COD attack by drilling five kills.  Sophomore Maygan Zink (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) aided the offense by dishing out 34 assists, with freshman Kaylie Edgar (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) digging out 16 Antelope Valley attacks.

As a team, the Lady Roadrunners landed 11 total blocks, with three solo and eight assist.

College of the Desert (3-8) will return to the court Wednesday, October 7 for an away match against Cerro Coso.  Game time is set for 5:30.
