COD Women’s Volleyball hunts down the Wolverines, 3-0

COD (17-4, 5-3) celebrated Sophomore Night the best way possible, with a sweep, knocking off the toothless San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (1-19, 1-7), 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-13).

Sophomore setter Ashtyn Lyneis (Palm Springs H.S.) led the team with 29 assists, had 2 service aces, 2 solo blocks and tied for the team lead with 2 assist blocks and sophomore libero Emily Sundback (Rancho Mirage H.S.) led the team with 12 digs.

With tonight's win, the Roadrunners have tied the all-time series with San Bernardino Valley at 28-28. Desert currently has an 11 match winning streak over the Wolverines, dating back to the days when both teams were in the now defunct, "Foothill Conference." The Roadrunners last fell to San Bernardino Valley on October 9, 2013 in Palm Desert, 3-2 (19-25, 25-23, 25-19, 23-25, 15-11), since that game, the Roadrunners have rattled off an impressive 33-3 record in set victories over the course of the past five seasons.

Sophomore outside hitter Baylie Dashner (La Quinta H.S.) led the team with 9 kills and sophomore middle blocker Nicole Svoboda (La Quinta H.S.) led the team with 4 solo blocks, had 7 kills and had 2 service aces.

Sophomore outside hitter Esmeralda Ordaz (Indio H.S.) led the team with 3 service aces and sophomore middle blocker Mckenzie Bartlett (Redmond, OR Ridgeview) tied for the team lead with 2 assist blocks and had 7 kills.

The next game for Desert is on the road on Monday, when they travel to the San Diego Miramar Jets on, October 29 at 5 p.m. This is the first season of Women's Volleyball for the Jets and Desert swept Miramar in Palm Desert, 3-0 on October 12.
