COD Women’s Volleyball grabs first Conference title since 2007

COD (15-9; 8-2) had a share of the inaugural Inland Empire Athletic Conference title in hand before they even started their game on Wednesday, while the result was not ideal, the 2019 Conference Champions reside in the Coachella Valley.

The Roadrunners will share their title with two other Conference teams, as all three ended up with an identical record of 8-2 in Conference play.

Sophomore right side Kendal Campbell-Faynor (White Rock (BC) Semiahoo Secondary) had 9 kills, a service ace, 15 digs and a block assist.

Freshman setter Judy Figueroa (Indio Shadow Hills) led the team with 38 assists, had 3 service aces, 2 block assists and 8 digs.

Freshman middle blocker Alex Salinas (Palm Springs H.S.) had 4 kills, a solo block and 2 block assists.

Freshman outside hitter Kate Thiem (Indio Shadow Hills) led the team with 19 kills and freshman libero Dakota Hansen (Myrtle Beach, SC) led the team with 30 digs.

In a hotly contested game between two very good teams, the Roadrunners were only able to take the second set away from Chaffey. Desert put in a ton of effort and fought hard throughout the contest, but unfortunately, could not get a positive result.

The IEAC Women's Volleyball coaches will meet on November 21st to decide the Conference Coach of the Year award, the Conference MVP award and the All-Conference teams. Playoff teams are also expected to be announced later that day.
